Image via Wikipedia The joke, it appears, may
have been on us all. Shortly before Christmas, a rumor went viral on
the web that a cure for AIDS had been discovered. For several weeks, it
was everywhere; Youtube, Twitter, Facebook….. there are still pages of
Google on it. For an internet rumor, it was pretty convincing. Because
apparently, it was based in part on truth. The researcher in question,
a Dr. Hans Gilbertson, was apparently real. There are a number of bios
and articles on him published all over the web.
But the rest of it… a drug called Mynavicum-12 which apparently attacked the HIV virus at a cellular level, was written off as another internet rumor. But it appears that we may have jumped the gun a bit early. Rumors have started to re-surface, indicating that the initial blow off was simply a cover up, and that the pharmaceutical agency simply wasn’t prepared to go public just yet.
